Periosteitis
This condition is caused by poor conformation, direct trauma or strain on the extensor tendons.
Treatment
Treatment is usually rest and immobilization of the limb (cast/bandage) and anti-inflammatory treatment e.g. phenylbutazone (‘bute’).
